AHWATUKEE

Ahwatukee Foothills, located on the south side of South Mountain within Phoenix’ city limits, consists of approximately 36 square miles. South Mountain State Park is the largest city owned park in the country. Residents enjoy the beauty of the majestic desert and mountainous views of the sprawling South Mountain range acting as a natural northern boundary. There are mountains and hills that are interspersed throughout the community. Ahwatukee Foothills boundaries also include the I-10 Freeway on the east and Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway on the South. Its current population is approximately 83,500 residents with 32,790 households. The average household income is $125,110. From an educational standpoint, 46.25% of adults 25 years + have a bachelor degree or higher. 

There is plenty to do inside Ahwatukee Foothills. The City of Phoenix offers several parks including Pecos Park with separate sections designated for dogs and skaters. Hikers and bikers of all abilities will be awestruck by the 146 miles of trails and bikeways. Multi-use trails in South Mountain Park include the Desert Classic, Pyramid, and Pima trails. South Mountain Park’s unique features and landmarks, include archaeological heritage sites, ancient petroglyphs, and Marcos de Niza Rock.  There are multiple shopping and dining areas, many with a local flair. 

It is not unusual to observe wild life in Ahwatukee Foothills including quail, coyotes, bobcats, owls, javelina, snakes and more! 

The Kyrene School District and charter schools serving children from kindergarten to 8th grade offer highly rated curriculums. Tempe Union High School’s Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe are the two public high schools that are well funded for extra-curricular activities.  

Ahwatukee Foothills real estate is as diverse as its residents. There is something for every taste, want and budget from large estates, horse properties, lakefront and golf properties, jaw-dropping hillside, mountain views or preserve lots.
